Caine says:

Thank you Everyone! The gentleman in the first shot was an amazing dancer and managed to stand out among
the hundreds of dancers each dance. He was quite tall, which helped, and his regalia was unique. :D

There will be plenty more powwow shots, if I ever get them sorted.

Thanks for the HL, hl fairy.

Caine says:

Thank you, Silar! It was wonderful this year and the weather stayed nice too.

Thank you, Nige. It's a fantastic gathering, and so fun.

7th Sep 2008, 01:32

OK. This is annual?
We have to try and do something with this. Let me know if you have the time

7th Sep 2008, 08:35

Caine says:

Yes, it's annual, part of the National Powwow circuit. Dancers come from all over, and of course, there are families of competing dancers who travel the circuit along with the competitor. International dancers are usually featured as well. This year the cultural exchange was Samiland (Sapmi). I wanted to stay for that, but my spine simply wasn't allowing for 12 more hours sitting on the ground in the arena.

I'd be happy to do something with you, let me know.

Caine they are all quite beautiful - but i love 8 & 2 the best for the colours & the movement.

7th Sep 2008, 13:50

Caine says:

Thank you, Queserasara. I took many shots of the dancers in those photos. They were both very fluid and graceful.

Superb series. Powwow are always so amazing and your pictures are as well

8th Sep 2008, 12:32

Caine says:

Thank you, Minkey! The UT powwow is a major stop on the circuit, so it's a large gathering. I'd love to be able to stay all four days next year. Depending on how I feel about the cold weather, I may try to make the mid-winter pow wow in Fort Yates in February.

9th Sep 2008, 04:28

Thank you, Midlife. It is wonderful to see, the dancers are so grand yet the feeling is very casual, hometown-ish.
